I use Gimp to normalize my images but since they are on 16-bit Gimp authomaticaly convert them in 8-Bit, but as expected i loose data on that step. Can you help me to understand how does Gimp perform this conversion? It will help me a lot :D. currently published gimp is 8-bit, not 16 and does not operate/save except 8-bit.
