Jan 16, 2016 · I have the Arris NVG599 modem that replaced my 2wire - I had another the 2wire connected by cat5 in the other side of my house where I had a very weak wireless signal. When I had both 2wire modems working that was setup by AT&T I had seamless connectivty whereby when I went to either side of the house I didnt have to log into the other modem.

The reason the Linksys did not work is because 2Wire does not support WDS (Wireless Distribution System). Multiple units with WDS can give you better signal over a larger area, but WDS is not WiFi certified (which is probably why 2Wire does not support it).

In other words, you could have a DD-WRT v24 unit connect wirelessly to the 2wire, and share that connection with locally wired clients, and also broadcast another wireless signal on the same network.
