Nov 11, 2010 · My guess was that it was a 64 Bit/32 Bit compatibility issue. I launched Activity Monitor and sure enough, the Finder was listed as running in 64 Bit mode. Pro Tools is not 64 Bit compatible, I know this for a fact. I have heard of people forcing their Mac to boot into the 64 Bit Snow Leopard kernel. It seems like this machine does it by default.
