The thermal diode is a semi-conductor junction that the capacitance changes with temperature. All the current Intel CPU have this diode built into the CPU die.

Quite a while back ABIT released their KT7 and KT7-RAID (with RAID flava!) motherboards. As obvious as it seems, the whole difference between these boards is the incorporation of the HPT 370 controller chip from HighPoint Technologies. I've used both of these boards (the KT7 and RAID version) and can tell you that (unsurprisingly) all else being equal, these boards perform equally well.

Can't find info on ABIT website. Trying to replace Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz/800Mhz bus/512k cache with 2.8 or 3.0/800 Mhz/1Mb cache. Use'r manual indicates support for Pentium 4 Socket 478 processor with 800/533/400 Mhz system bus speeds. Also supports Hyper-Threading technology.
