Sep 14, 2010 · In the BIOS ACPI 2.0 Support is disabled by default. Some people on other non-Microsoft forums have said that the ACPI 2.0 Support has to be enabled at the time of installation of the OS or an host of terrible things will happen if you try to enable it later.

Jul 31, 2002 · Both ACPI _and_ APIC are good to have on. Don't disable either. Doing so only encourages the hardware manufacturers to make bad non-compliant hardware. You'll do TONS more work shuffling IRQ's (since despite APIC, in non-ACPI mode you only get 4 hardware-level interrupts - that's right ONLY 4!), and get almost no performance benefits.
