    Thanks for the reply, but can you confirm that they actually work at 300 Mbps in ad-hoc mode. Sorry if I appear sceptical, but the majority of 802.11n adapters from other manufacturers support ad-hoc but only at 54 Mbps. They don't tell you that in the blurb of course, which is the reason for my scepticism - once bitten twice shy!

    I bought 2 WUSB600n adapters and tried to make an ad-hoc (so no router) connection. It works, but only at 54Mb/s speed. Having the WUSB600n controlled by XP, or by the linksys software makes no difference. Also switching to Vista didn't help. Has anyone ever seen this working at the 11n speed of 300Mb/s?
