I am trying to add ECW support into Geoserver 2.1.1 (also tried 1.7.7) but no luck so far. Does anyone have a step by step guide to add the ECW support ? (the one. ECW (Enhanced Compression Wavelet) is a proprietary wavelet compression image format optimized for aerial and satellite imagery. Open the web browser and navigate to the GeoServer Welcome Page. Thanks. I did find 3.3 dlls (actually yanked them from the FWTools package) which enabled ECW with the GDAL plugin... What I want to do is actually to create a tilecache from this ECW using GeoServer then remove it so it's never actually served to any user which I think is acceptable by the license... but seeding the cache results in GeoServer out of heap memory rather quickly so in the end I ...

Hello Geoffrey, ECW support on a 64-bit system like Windows 2008 (R2) is not the easiest right now. There are a few steps involved to "see" the plugin, but so far, we haven't been able to get it working with Geoserver on 64-bit.
