Aug 01, 2013 · We have windows 2008 r2 server for file sharing that does not support AFP. SMB works on basic level but when it comes to bigger files, deep folder stucture SMB is way to slow. I know there are solutions like ExtimeZ-IP, and others. Is there some kind of service i can install on windows 2008 server to support AFP?

Sep 28, 2017 · Normally I'd run screaming from such a request given that while it worked OK in the past Microsoft killed native AFP services off awhile ago. Yet I'm being asked to look for a 3rd party AFP tool so a dept full of Mac uses can share files on Windows Server 2012.

Aug 06, 2013 · stuarta99, how are you connecting AFP to Win Servver 2008? The removed that protocol from Windows Server in the first version of 2008. The removed Print services and file services for Macintosh and don't support it. I am in a commercial printing environment and had to move to SMB/CIFS when we upgraded to Server 2008 and 2008 R2.
