Most people who have MTP devices want to make playlist to listen to (vs. listening to one artist or cd), doing it on the MTP device takes forever, Amarok 1.4 made it really easy to transfer a playlist to the device but Amarok 2 still doesn't support it, I actually tried going back to Amarok 1.4 because of this but a big bug in it made it so I had to ...

Amarok uses KDE's media device framework recognizing that removable media has been connected. This is known to work with KDE 3.5 with most recent distributions. As we didn't want to dig into any lower level libraries, automatic recognition of the type of your device is not implemented.
