Nov 30, 2019 · AMD's OpenGL drivers aren't bad exactly it's just that Nvidia's spend more money on it and of course Nvidia fully support all their own OpenGL extentions which a lot of OpenGL games and apps use. AMD have equivalents for many but they're not always supported well by apps.Reviews: 12

AMD's OpenGL support was always shifty. They just outright dropped it once low level API's started picking up steam. Would love for either open source drivers for OpenGL on windows or some kinda vulkan or dx12 wrapper (kinda like proton for windows, to use with AMD when playing OpenGL games).

Due to a buggy driver OpenGL will perform poorly on AMD GPUs. The driver lacks performance optimizations and several extensions are currently broken. The issues have been reported on the AMD support forum for a year now, but any fixes AMD has released so far have either introduced new bugs or reintroduced old bugs.

Switching to an AMD GPU would work, as the latest AMD drivers still offer support for 32-bit systems.
