asterisk13: Please add AMR and AMR-WB support - GitHub

    https://github.com/openwrt/telephony/issues/252
Jan 25, 2018 · Apart from that I wouldn't say asterisk13 is currently missing AMR support. I would say AMR support is simply not included in Asterisk. I checked the github repo you linked. Dec 10, 2012 · G.722.2 AMR-WB is a patent-encumbered codec. Transcoding it, just like transcoding G.729 or any other patent-encumbered codec, means you're going to have to speak to someone about IPR. Digium doesn't currently offer a licensed G.722.2 AMR-WB codec implementation for Asterisk, with licensing, as we do for the software-based G.729 codec.

GitHub - traud/asterisk-amr: Asterisk 13 transcoding ...

    https://github.com/traud/asterisk-amr
Aug 28, 2018 · Asterisk patch for AMR and AMR-WB. To add a codec for SIP/SDP (m=, rtmap, and ftmp), you create a format module in Asterisk: codec_amr.patch (for m= and rtmap) and res/res_format_attr_amr.c (for fmtp). However, this requires both call legs to support AMR (pass-through only). If one leg does not support AMR, the call has no audio.

As a part of the Media Overhaul project for Asterisk 10, changes have been made to Asterisk to increase the number of codecs it's capable of supporting, to handle codecs with custom formats, and to support audio sampling rates greater than 16kHz. This has resulted in several practical changes to Asterisk that will benefit its users.
