May 03, 2012 · ad-hoc can work on Ace, only with some of the custom ROMs, like cyanogen. Only issue is that it doesn't work great, the ad-hoc can not use security and the connection to google play doesn't work too great. If you are trying to connect to Win XP then ad-hoc is the only way to go ( at least that I have found).

Oct 23, 2008 · 2. Newer Android releases seem to explicitly exclude ad-hoc support from the WiFi driver. This is especially true of Jelly Bean releases with the WiFi driver part of the kernel instead of being a loadable module, such as, if I remember correctly, with the Nexus S. The solution there is to stop removing ad-hoc support from that driver.
