Nov 09, 2018 · JAVA applets are not supported on Android. The version of JAVA used on Android is not just your run of the mill JAVA so you would need to get a JAVA compiler on the phone first to run any applets. Which I don’t think is possible or at least feasible. ¹

Java Applets will not work within a browser in Android as they do not make a plug-in like the ones you’d find for a desktop computer. There are no plans for creating one since the resources required would not suffice on a mobile device and the technology is considered obsolete.

Dec 27, 2018 · There are rumors and information that Microsoft might drop applet support on IE as early as March 2019. With IE being the only browser that still support Applets, it will be difficult for us if the March timeline is indeed true. Would appreciate of help on this. Cheers, Isagani

Android does not have a full Java VM, and therefore does not currently support Applets in the browser. While changing this is certainly possible, I have not heard of any plans to do so. share improve this answer
