It is up to the app dev to support the new Android rich image content API. If they don't have it and you insert a GIF, we seem to be defaulting to the old school Android share option. Where you pick the app and then the conversation. This is a work around. I suggest you message that app dev and ask them to support the new API or find a new SMS app.
