Sep 13, 2013 · At the time there was another group call the ASSG (Angelman Syndrome Support Group) which had been formed some years earlier, however the first ASSERT parents came together and set up the Angelman Syndrome Support Education Research Trust because they wanted more… a different kind of support than the ASSG could offer at the time.

ASSERT is a UK wide support group run by volunteers who have direct contact with people with Angelman Syndrome. A majority of volunteers are parents or relatives of children or adults with Angelman Syndrome. ASSERT can help in many ways. If you are a parent they can offer advice and support on a wide range of problems.

The funding is intended to support LEA and school funding by providing equipment and technology for students with significant communication difficulties. It is not meant to relieve LEAs and schools of their obligation to meet their students’ educational needs and consequential incurred financial support.
