Feb 02, 2006 · I've been hearing a lot about the Ogg Vorbis format being really good. As an audiophile, I just want to make a suggestion that Apple should support Ogg Vorbis in iTunes. Not only that, but it should also support it on the iPod.. What does everyone think?

Apple does not support the Ogg Vorbis format in iTunes. There is a QuickTime component available that will enable you to play Vorbis files in iTunes, but due to it being a QuickTime hack (as opposed to format support within the application itself), certain things do not work as expected, and OS X will not properly associate Ogg Vorbis files as 'iTunes-compatible.'5/5(192)

If you try to play an Ogg Vorbis file, the media player will hang indefinitely. Only a sub-standard software developer (e.g. Apple) would allow this to happen. A quality software developer would at least implement a check in the media player to inform the user that the format is not one which is supported.
