@AspectJ refers to a style of declaring aspects as regular Java classes annotated with Java 5 annotations. The @AspectJ style was introduced by the AspectJ project as part of the AspectJ 5 release. IntelliJ IDEA doesn't support aspects in standalone Java files. Only the Spring-AOP subset of AspectJ is supported in IDEA 7.0.4, and AspectJ is only understood inside annotations. The project successfully builds, but the AspectJ method logging doesn't work (I don't see any method logs, which makes sense given :weaveClasses fails). jcabi/jcabi-aspects#257 suggests upgrading aspectjtools to 1.9.2, but as you mention that would break Java 7 compatibility.
