Aug 29, 2010 · My problem is that avrdude does not recognize atmega168p or m168p as a micro controller it supports. It does support the 168 however so I copied the definition for the 168 and changed the id, desc, and signature and appended it to the end of avrdude.conf.

I have problem in programming ATMega168 with AvrDude and sp12 programmer. This part wasn't defined in "avrdude.conf" file so I added the ATMega88 definition and changed some things. The only thing I didn't know was: what are "pagel" and "bs2" variables, so I left them.

Jul 13, 2010 · The Arduino IDE doesn't support the ATMEGA168P. You would need to modify the bootloader files or make a new bootloading configuration in the IDE directory. You don't actually have to modify the bootloader files, just your board definition.
