Backup Exec 2012 SP2 runs succesfully with vsphere 5.5, but official not supported !!! Official Support are planed for the First Quarter of 2014. I've installed vsphere 5.5.0 - 1312299 + VMware Tools for Windows version 9.4 and vmware backups running fine. Nov 20, 2013 · We have recently upgraded to Backup Exec 2012 (from BE2010) and I have a question or two regarding backing up our virtual environment... We currently have one ESXi 5 server hosting 7 VM's and a VSphere management server where BE lives. Our procedure is a full backup daily going to disk then duplicating to tape once the job completes.
