dbus-monitor works as expected (meaning it shows the bus-traffic if the bus is present and it fails if the bus is not present) Since you get the same gnucash errors with and without a working bus, it means either that the problem is not dbus related or, as it worked with the old x11 enabled dbus that it uses a hardcoded X11 method for finding the bus.

Support I think that all of the issues mentioned here have been corrected. In any case, users should be aware that your maintainer is now maintaining most of the GTK on OSX stuff, and has established a project at SourceForge.
