Dec 30, 2019 · @Semar HP does not support or recommend using Ubuntu or Linux as off yet, that said, I found this solution from Microsoft support,and if the issue persists, please refer to Microsoft for assistance:. 1- insert the windows 7 CD and boot from it. 2- in the first screen use you language and location and proceed to new screen and choose "Repair computer"

Jan 30, 2011 · Ok, I went into the bios and did a reset and checked to make sure DVD was first boot option. Still goes to HD to boot and still gives me the "computer not compliant with ACPI" message. I don"t care about backing up anything on this computer but I do not want to format the drive until I know I can get either the 32 or 64 bit disc of Win7 to load.

On my new PC something is wrong with ACPI support under Linux. I have to boot it with acpi=off and nolapic. Also it detects only one CPU core (this annoys me the most) and won't shut down completely, I have to hold power button for few seconds to power PC off.

The only thing we can suggest is to go into your system BIOS and check for ACPI settings. Check to see if they exist and if they are disabled, turn them on for the purposes of booting from this CD. Otherwise the Boot Disk CD will not load on systems that do not support ACPI.
