Oct 25, 2009 · I followed the directions provided in the BlackBerry article and had no problems upgrading all OCS 2007 R1 servers to R2 level and leaving the CWA server at OCS 2007 R1. Enterprise messaging has continued working on our BlackBerry devices and I have been able to upgrade all windows clients to the new OCS 2007 R2 clients.

Apparently you can first install OCS 2007 R1 on your domain and then upgrade to OCS 2007 R2 leaving a R1 Web Access server installed for the BBIM service to communicate with.
