Mar 23, 2016 · Hey guys, Does seems to be quite a bit of bad news here. Was reading through the blog on the Blender Foundation site and found the project dev notes for the Blender 2.8 meeting and right at the bottom of the article they mention that they are seriously considering dropping the OpenCollada library which allows of collada export.

I haven't installed 2.81 as I try to limit thenumber of versions I am running. I have 2.79 and 2.8 beta. The problem wasn't importing that collada file into a blank new blender file, it wouldn't import into an existing blender file that has other content in it (an X-37b spaceplane, I was borrowing landing gear I had made for another project for this).
