Apr 23, 2018 · Simulations (Fluids, smoke), sculpting, rendering, and compositing all support multi-threading/ multiple cores, I believe modelling, texturing, animation do not support multi-threading, but usually they aren’t very processor intensive anyway.. There will probably be some other things, but I’ve forgotten. Also the internal supports 64 threads, which means it’s capable of supporting 64 cores.

I think Blender is running animation on only one core. When I try to research this topic I get a mixed message. I can find performance analysis multi core vs single core. I can find a Microsoft demo how the job queue can be executed parallel on a cloud service. I can find entries that say the Renderer is multi core the rest is not.

Apr 23, 2018 · From what I can tell, Blender has multi-core support for rendering, but not for the 3D interface. I could be wrong though about the interface… still trying to figure that one out. I suspect that there is still room for improvement regarding how Blender is written to handle multi-core. I’m still researching the topic.

GPU Rendering — Blender Manual

    https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/render/cycles/gpu_rendering.html
GPU Rendering¶. GPU rendering makes it possible to use your graphics card for rendering, instead of the CPU. This can speed up rendering because modern GPUs are designed to do quite a lot of number crunching. On the other hand, they also have some limitations in rendering complex scenes, due to more limited memory, and issues with interactivity when using the same graphics card for display ...
