Feb 19, 2014 · Good thinking! In spite of what others say, a program for a floppy or cd to boot whatever is in the USB-drive DOES exist. It is called Plop and I use it to boot from USB on an old computer that cannot boot from USB.

Apr 19, 2007 · well you asked about Debian.... I doubt any floppy is going to magically boot whatever is in the USB cd drive. It is fairly simple to get Debian installed from a hard drive or even the usb cd drive assuming the kernel that is booted has support for it.

Both Microsoft and Apple opted to drop floppy drive support when booting under UEFI. Linux has retained floppy support under UEFI for their 64-bit versions.
