The Xperia Z will need to format the 64GB card to FAT32 (from exFAT), but once done you can use the card without any problems.     I have xperia ZL and I purchased sandisk Ultra class 10 64 gb micro sd card for the same. What I did is as soon as I got ZL, I have updated the software from 4.1.1 to 4.2.2. THen I put 64 gb microsd card and started using it. So yes, support of 64gb is there provided the os version is 4.2.2 and above.
