The Carer Support days allocation does not meet the needs of most of the families I work with. This system needs to be audited. I have asked for information about the allocation of carer support days by the Ministry of Health in relation to the amount of days actually used but this information has never been able to be provided.

If you lose your Carer Support form, phone Ministry of Health 0800 855 066, option 221 for a replacement. They can also tell you how many days you have left. If you feel you need more Carer Support days during the year, ask for another assessment. Care support days do not roll over from one year to the next. You need a new assessment each year.
