Aug 10, 2013 · For transport, I simply tie down the base of the mast at the bow fitting and use a tie-down strap in the stern to prevent the support and mast from lifting out of the rudder support when the trailer hits a big bump. The system is also very aerodynamic (low profile). Well, that's my version of mast support for trailering.

The rear beam is basically not having to support any weight at all since the mast is almost balanced off the front support. Jun 13, 2008 · I have a mast support similar to the product you showed. It has about a 30 inch horizontal for about 20 inches of reach (it slides on top of the middle trailer beam rather than clamping) and the mast sits about 18" above the crossbar.
