Jan 13, 2011 · Its a limitation of CDMA technology. Theres a update called VORA (Voice Over Revision A) that adds the Voice and Data at the same time. But Verizon is not currently deploying it and the hardware in the new iPhone does not support it.

There are technical limitations with CDMA that prevent data and voice connectivity at the same time. This doesn't affect 3G 'GSM' networks since they use different technology and does not rely on timeslots/time division. It just doesn't. It's not in the specifications for the technology. Just like it was with GSM before 3G came along. You couldn't do voice and cellular data at the same time on Edge. Eventually Verizon will also offer simultanious voice and data.

Dec 19, 2015 · All the new Spark phones only have 1 radio so these phones will never be able to do calls & data at the same time. Reason your note works, the older phones had separate radios for LTE & CDMA. The downside to that is those phones don't support Sprint's new bands so your missing out on higher speed data and better signal on Band 25.
