May 30, 2007 · Hello all! I have been homeschooling my son thru high school. He will be 18 next month and was notified by support enforcement that I could continue to get child support for him til he is 19 (as he will still be in school then).

As to the question regarding finishing school and its relation to child support, in my jurisdictions, the child support ceases at the age of emancipation, typically 18 or 19 depending on the state. There are other events would terminate child support, but they are fact specific.

Mar 18, 2008 · Homeschooling is a great way to get an education but I would not think you should be required to pay child support past the 18th birthday, unless you want to pay it. I think the laws, at least in our area, are for child support for a child who is going to college in some cases.

Jan 25, 2008 · Does your mom have court-mandated child support, or is your dad just do it "on his own," as it were? If it is court-mandated, she can protest his actions through a judge, because you are right - a homeschool is a private school in Texas.
