LLDP is not supported under 3550. You need 3560, 3750 or 2960 and support began with IOS 12.2(40)SE . Recommend to always check the Release Notes

Aug 26, 2008 · For your information Cisco have now support for LLDP on some of their newest Catalyst switches (2960,2970,3550,360 and 3750), download IOS version 12.2(37)SE and you will get LLDP info even from a Cisco switch. :-) cat3650#sh lldp neighbors gigabitEthernet 0/8
