The VMPS feature is no longer supported in 12.2SX code. http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/122sx/ol_4164.htm#wp25624. The alternative as I see it would be to enable 802.1x authentication on the switch and authenticate users or machines against a RADIUS server. From there, you can perform vlan ssignment.
