Samba 4.2 support for ClearCase was added in versions 8.0.1.8 and 8.0.0.16. So you need to have a more recent version than those (depending if you are on 8.0.1 or 8.0.0. 9.0 supports it already being a later release) if you are going to upgrade Samba to 4.2.

Apr 24, 2018 · I have installed samba 3.6 from the AIX7.2 expansion DVD. We have tried all of the documented config setting to activate SMB2 with no success. I have tried to install samba 4.6 but the only one I could find was for AIX6.1 and it would not load on AIX higher that 6.1. Any tips on configuring 3.6 (min protocol/max protocol appear to have no impact)
