CONDOR is a job control system which can accept jobs from a variety of users, and assign them for execution on one or more computers that it communicates with. In particular, if a user wishes to run a program in parallel, with MPI, CONDOR can find the necessary machines and manage the parallel execution of the job.

" The MPI universe in Condor currently supports MPICH versions 1.2.2, 1.2.3, and 1.2.4 using the ch_p4 device. The MPI universe does not support MPICH version 1.2.5. These supported implementations are offered by Argonne National Labs without charge by download.

Message Passing Interface (MPI) using C ... MPI can also support distributed program execution on heterogenous hardware. That is, you may run a program that starts processes on multiple computer systems to work on the same problem. This is useful with a workstation farm.

Computing with HTCondor™ Our goal is to develop, implement, deploy, and evaluate mechanisms and policies that support High Throughput Computing (HTC) on large collections of distributively owned computing resources. Guided by both the technological and sociological challenges of such a computing environment, the Center for High Throughput Computing at UW-Madison has been building the open ...

Jul 23, 2009 · On Linux, the "Parallel Universe", as described in sections 2.9.1 through 2.9.4 of the Condor manual, should support the latest version of pretty much any MPI implementation. I think most users stick with MPICH, and although I haven't heard of anyone using OpenMPI with Condor I don't know why it wouldn't work just fine.

The Parallel universe 2.10 is now the preferred way to run MPI jobs. Support for the MPI universe will be removed from Condor at a future date. 2.10.5.1 MPI Details of Set Up Administratively, Condor must be configured such that resources (machines) running MPI jobs are dedicated.

There is MPI support in Rosetta, though this has not been tested with Condor. MPI is included for PBS-style supercomputers which allocate a large number of nodes at once. For a Condor cluster, MPI is not needed to run Rosetta in parallel - due to the "embarrassingly parallel" nature of …

This allows us to support the methods described above (application-directed, BLCR, etc.) as well as other kinds of checkpoint/restart systems (e.g., Condor, libckpt) and protocols (e.g., uncoordinated, message induced). Note: The checkpoint/restart support was last released as part of the v1.6 series. The v1.7 series and the Open MPI master do ...
