Searching for information on this topic reveals a number of old threads that suggest SSDs should not be used on Windows XP due to lack of TRIM support.

May 26, 2013 · I've put SSDs in quite a few XP systems, and it always a nice improvement. First of all, you want an SSD brand that has a toolbox for performing a manual "TRIM" in XP. Intel and Samsung have that, so IMO it's best to use those brands. The Intel SSD toolbox will let you schedule a manual TRIM (or optimize as I think they call it) once a a week.

Windows should automatically enable TRIM if you have a modern version of Windows with a modern solid-state drive. If TRIM is disabled, it’s possible that Windows knows something you don’t, and TRIM shouldn’t be enabled for a drive.

Jul 25, 2014 · Due to the age of the system, I'm not sure it would have hardware support for TRIM (doesn't the SSD need to support it, and the BIOS as well? this board being so old it might not even have ahci mode I'm not sure... not even 100% on if it has SATA at all). Does XP support TRIM? I think I remember something about needing a driver?Memory: 4x2GB DDR3 1333 :: 2x1GB DDR3 1333
