Aug 25, 2012 · And, 6x6 cedar posts are too cost-prohibitive w/ my typical customers (esp in the current economy), as most decks in my neck of the woods are built on the average of 6-9 feet off of the ground. Are there any 'wood-fillers', esp an epoxy-based product, that can be forced into the splits & cracks, and then sanded smooth, prior to applying a solid stain or other coating?

Deck Post Cracks. I have a deck that was built August of last year. Yesterday when I was cleaning the yard, I noticed cracks on the deck post. The crack is on all of the sides of the post, a minimum of 0.5 inch deep and maximum is 1.5 inches. The size of the post is 6x6, 2 of are bending(I think).
