Also, DDR3 can operate at speeds much higher than DDR2, thereby transferring more data in a shorter period of time. Some DDR3 systems can even run memory in "triple-channel" mode which allows them to access three pieces of memory at the same time, increasing the amount of data that your memory can handle over a certain period of time even further.

Jul 02, 2018 · While benchmarking is not equivalent to real life performance, it is far more realistic than the theoretical calculation. As such, we compared a Single Channel Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 RAM with a Dual Channel Corsair Vengeance 8GB (4×2 kit) DDR3 RAM, both costing the same $64.99. The following benchmarks were conducted on our test machine.Author: Varun Mirchandani

Triple-channel architecture Operation. DDR3 triple-channel architecture is used in the Intel Core i7-900 series (the Intel Core i7-800 series only support up to dual-channel). The LGA 1366 platform (e.g. Intel X58) supports DDR3 triple-channel, normally 1333 and 1600Mhz, but can run at higher clock speeds on certain motherboards.

Nov 19, 2016 · The first set of RAM (DDR3) should have been selected. Note that DDR3’s center notch is to the left of the older DDR2 and DDR center notch. The memory modules should have been installed to the DIMM1 (blue) slot of Channel A and the DIMM2 (blue) slot of Channel B, collectively forming the first bank of RAM. (See Figures 4-12 and 4-13.)

- Some motherboards that support DDR3 also support features called triple-channel architecture or quad-channel archictecture, which work a lot like dual-channel but with three or four sticks of RAM instead of two - Note how DDR3 I/O speeds are quadruple the clock speeds, whereas DDR2 I/O speeds are only double the clock.

Mar 23, 2010 · It doesn't exactly triple the speed, but it is faster than dual channel. What you really need to check is if the motherboard supports these features. As far as I know, only Intel chipsets support triple channel. I'm sure something like it will be on AMD boards eventually. Almost everything current supports dual channel.
