This won't work, since the devinput driver is just a thin layer on top of the kernel decoding which does not support sending at all. In many cases when using the devinput driver it's possible to use the default driver instead; this supports sending. However, this requires a lircd.conf file describing the remote. And, to work, the kernel driver must set up a /dev/lirc0 device which the default ...

Both send (blasting) and receive are supported through the kernel driver, but if you've got it working just leave it be.

LIRC / transmitter: hardware does not support sending

But the transmitter part does not seem to work. I'm confident that I've built the circuit correctly, so it should be a LIRC problem. I've tried using the built-in LIRC version (0.7.0) that comes with SuSe 9.3 without success. It says that the hardware does not support sending when I use irsend.

If it's still not working, there are a few things for troubleshooting: check your circuitry with another remote just to rule out it wasn't the first remote or its dead batteries, check your IR receivers power source; most tutorials plug it into 3V and your IR receiver could be fine with that but it could also work with 5V and require it to be ...
