Support for Direct3D in Mesa AFAIK Wine with DXVK allows for seamless experience in newest games while Mesa has serious problems even with Direct3D 9. My naive view is that in the end Mesa should be a better solution: less overhead, Wine-independent and Direct3D support in native Linux apps.

Jul 27, 2009 · This is needed, because all the D3D calls in the Guest from DirectX are translated to OpenGL ones using the Wine D3D support packages. If you have some kind of Intel graphics card, you're pretty much stuck as most of these cards (all except the most recent ones) don't have OpenGL support in their hardware.

Aug 03, 2016 · There are a few recent games that are directx 11 only that I would like to play on Linux. I use Linux for everything else and don't want to install windows just for these games. However as I am sure you are aware WINE does not support directx 11 or directx 12.
