Jul 31, 2002 · Both ACPI _and_ APIC are good to have on. Don't disable either. Doing so only encourages the hardware manufacturers to make bad non-compliant hardware. You'll do TONS more work shuffling IRQ's (since despite APIC, in non-ACPI mode you only get 4 hardware-level interrupts - that's right ONLY 4!), and get almost no performance benefits.

Sep 27, 2007 · thanks, i was able to get some linux guests working by appropriate use of the "legacy network adapter" and OS kernel flags to control the video (using 8, 16, or 32 bit modes seem to work in most cases, but i didnt find 1 mode that worked on all distros yet) and apic features. it didnt end up seeming to be necessary to disable acpi or lapic.

Jul 08, 2010 · Two very different things, so which is it? APIC or ACPI?. The latter is indeed removed from GUI, because why would you want to disable it? All OSes are ACPI capable these days and those that do not support ACPI (like MS DOS) might have it disabled in it's template. Yes, you can disable ACPI, you do this using the CLI.
