Jan 22, 2008 · I'm guessing that running my computer with only one core of a multi-core CPU forever was probaly not a good thing to do? I hope I did it right and that i did it on the right cmd.exe. Jun 02, 2010 · Disable Hyperthreading Cores. An Intel dual-core has 4 “logical” cores and a quad-core has 8 “logical” cores, thanks to Hyperthreading. Most people think Hyperthreading is a joke. It also makes your CPU run hotter, and 99% of users will never see any benefit if it exists. You can disable these “logical” cores in the mainboard BIOS.

And most of the applications don't support Hyperthreading. Unfortunately, if your 3rd party PCI card and its application is one of them, it would exhibit performance issue, application error, system hangs and etc. You need to disable the Multi-core support or Hyperthreading in BIOS (only if it is available or an option to disable it)

May 03, 2013 · I have enabled and tested last weekend with sample rate 44100Hz & 48000Hz all 4fx’s on, the 30 - 40% latency is now decreased to 10 - 20% because the Intel quad core processor chips are working independently which is a great advantage.
