Now not all xbox games have black bars on the sides. When you play in 720p, and 1080i, games that don't have native widescreen stay in 4:3. But games that supported a 16:9 native ratio, still play in 16:9. Halo 2, Ninja gaiden, and others.

Jun 24, 2017 · The Scorpio is a game console and will support 4K gaming as advertised. Here is a Steam Curator list of games that support 21:9, as you can see it is quite sizable and includes many multiplatform titles that are also on the Xbox One. So there is really no reason why it could not be supported, especially on the Scorpio.

Basically, you should only use widescreen if the game actually supports widescreen, and should only use a higher resolution if the game actually supports that higher resolution. Some Xbox games do support 720p, but none go higher (afaik), and most are 480p at most, as far as display ratio goes, I don't know what percentage have widescreen ...

Jul 26, 2014 · Every game on my xbox displays in widescreen on my TV, I have p.size set to 16:9 rather than wide zoom. Also I'm sure I read somewhere that every Xbox game is required to have Widescreen support during actual gameplay by Microsoft & if you have a modded console, you might need to enable widescreen mode in the menu of your modded dash.
