Will need the device access code listed on side of gateway to make change. 2) spend some money and purchase a dual band router placed in WAP mode to replace the older 2Wire product.

The reason the Linksys did not work is because 2Wire does not support WDS (Wireless Distribution System). Multiple units with WDS can give you better signal over a larger area, but WDS is not WiFi certified (which is probably why 2Wire does not support it).
