iTunes does not support FLAC. There's numerous free applications such as VLC which will play FLAC but aren't as structured as iTunes for music collections. Nov 06, 2012 · My music is 99.9% ALAC stored on my Mac Mini outputting upto 24/192 through an M2Tech HiFace USB-S/PDIF interface, which sends music to the Kramer switch I mentioned in the previous post. I also take audio out of the optical output from the Mac Mini (restricted to 24/96) into my RX-V2700 in my living room.

iTunes can support up to 24-bit, 192kHz via AIFF and ALAC files, though it's only recently that some sellers have offered ALAC in anything higher than 16-bit, 44.1/48kHz, and most still force FLAC or AIFF for 24-bit audio of any sort.

Oct 06, 2015 · If you have 24/96 files or 16/44.1 in your iTunes library, they will be resampled to 48khz. Airplay, which is 44.1 will also be resampled to 48khz with the AppleTV (2 and 3). To be clear, I was saying that everything on the AppleTV 2 and 3 is output at 48khz (not 44.1).

This depends on downsampling the files, but more importantly hinges on the unpublished capability of Sonos to support 48 kHz / 16 bit / 1536 kbps, higher than the officially stated 1411 kbps.

Feb 03, 2015 · My 5th gen nano plays Apple Lossless up to 24/48. I wished Apple would support at least 24/96 and multi-channel Apple Lossless. I hook up my iPod to my AVR to play music and I have been getting some of my music which has been reissued/remixed to 5.1 24/96.
