Oct 05, 2012 · With the built in gmail app, it seems to be the case that the server tells the phone to run a sync when an email arrives. So strictly speaking it's not true push. But in practice, you're still only connecting to the server when an email arrives and it's instantaneous, so it's got all the same benefits as push.

May 06, 2013 · Can someone help me out here, I can't find an option to "push" my email on my S4. Apparently the Gmail app does this but not the stock email app. I have a Gmail account but it's hardly ever used, I use iCloud/Exchange instead (and refuse to switch over). Click to expand...
