Since then Dynamic DNS doesn't work at all. I have spent 3 days on the phone to BT about this and the upshot is that the support desk are completely unable to grasp this simple concept even when dialled in to your PC remotely to view the routers config. They ultimately conceeded defeat and admitted that they don't know how it works.

There are a number of them, and they are allocated each time a dynamic IP address is requested, and you cannot change them on the home hub 5. If you want to use your own DHCP server, then you would have to turn the home hubs DHCP server off. You would then be free to use your own DNS servers like OpenDNS, or Google public DNS.
