That worked immediately, and we seem to have gained a bit of extra speed. Our exchange (Kelsall - near Chester) was upgraded last year and seems to support PPPoE well (as I'm told most BT exchanges do now). My question is can we get into trouble for using the PPPoE system, as our ADSL (Total Broadband Option 3) uses PPPoA.

Are you using the BT Infinity Hub ? Can you choose between PPPoE & PPPoA in its setup ? If you can, you could just try it and see - BTs network used to work with either, but your problem is whether or not the router (the Infinity Hub) will happily talk PPPoA to the modem, rather than what happens on the network side of the modem.

PPPoE does not work, It seems there are different versions of the router and manual from what I read here, The ISP is nowtv part of sky uses BT lines but from what I understand it is PPPoA, I have also read that some Modems can deal with this problem and allow you to connect the router as PPPoE.
