Steinberg's Cubase SX, Cubase 4 and Nuendo all work decently on quad-core systems, scaling up well from single to dual-core and quad-core PCs. However, Cubase 4 and Nuendo 4 don't currently provide all the benefits they could at low latency with a dual quad-core system.

Nov 04, 2019 · 4. The socket is dead. For very, very little more at the very least the OP can get on AMD's AM4 platform which should have support and development for another 2-3 years. That means new and faster CPUs. So the OP can still start out with an entry level quad core and move to an 8-core CPU in a couple of years, without having to swap motherboards etc.

Feb 15, 2017 · If a Xeon set-up introduces more latency then it might be better for me to get the new i7 8-core for Cubase where most of the my FX chain will remain. I could then build another quad or six-core system as a slave with some basic processing on it.

multiprocessing or dual core processors, Hyperthreading delivers a noticeable but marginal performance gain in Cubase or Nuendo. Performance gain is typically 5-15%, depending on the system configuration and project. However, it should be turned off in dual-processor or dual-core systems when used with Cubase or Nuendo.

Core i5/i7 for running lots of VST stuff? - Gearslutz

Feb 19, 2014 · The Core i7 will always beat the i5, it supports multi-threading, and virtual cores. I use Logic, an app that support multithreading, my quad i7 shows 8 cores in Logic. Four real cores and four virtual cores. A quad i5 will only show four cores, and cannot compete with the CPU power of the i7, that's one reason for the price difference.
