Feb 24, 2017 · Does the GTX 1060 support double precision? What is it's double precision throughput in Gflops. I couldn't find any information on this on the NVIDIA website. Is there any table which details the double precision capabilities of the NVIDIA GPUs. The only …

Compounding the weirdness, Tesla K10s have Ge Force-level double-precision support. And most recently, this got thrown into complete disarray by the introduction of the Ge Force GTX Titan, which has full double-precision support and many CUDA features only present on Tesla models up to now. A GTX Titan costs ~$1,000 - a screaming bargain IMO.

Does CUDA support double precision floating point numbers? Also, what are the reasons for the same?
https://docs.nvidia.com/cuda/floating-point/index.html
Current generations of the NVIDIA architecture such as Tesla Kxx, GTX 8xx, and GTX 9xx, support both single and double precision with IEEE 754 precision and include hardware support for fused multiply-add in both single and double precision. In CUDA, the features supported by the GPU are encoded in the compute capability number.

Aug 06, 2013 · 8.3.3. Double Precision (64-Bit) Double-precision floating-point support was added to CUDA with SM 1.3 (first implemented in the GeForce GTX 280), and much improved double-precision support (both functionality and performance) became available with SM 2.0.

$\begingroup$ @someonewithpc Thanks, I think that would be a good choice too, I also found out that the Tesla cards are better at double point precision, and the GeForce series are better at single point. Another question, how does Blender do with the Titan? All benchmark info I can find is two years old, closer to the time it came out and support wasn't very good. $\endgroup$ – The Count ...
