Since 64-bit windows no longer supports 16-bit dos programs, and official dosbox is limited to mostly game related features and not under active development, this would be a boon for those of us still needing dos support on modern Windows systems.

To support pthreads with your unnamed RTOS in Newlib, you would need to write all of the corresponding routines which translate pthreads calls into whatever threading model the RTOS supports. This is (presumably) what the Diab tool chain does.

It looks like the pthreads/workers support is not 100% stable and becomes a pitfall for any seriouse efforts to port complex C++ code. I am basically a C++ specialist, so although I have a basic understanding of how the threads were implmeented (both from looking at source and forums), it's really hard for me to debug these issues in the crossbridge code.

Nov 14, 2012 · We can add a support for cygwin in case we will have a contribution with the patch and like we did for mingw support. Time to implement it depends on the patch and how it will actually works. Actually we played with cygwin a few years ago but there were some problems thread count more than 2.

Update: I downloaded pthreadGC2.dll from the mingw64 site, replacing libpthreadGC2.a with it, and now the linking errors are gone. I don't understand why, and I haven't tried running the app.
